Why Homosexuals Don’t go Extinct?
The heritability of homosexuality is “only” 20%. That is, the probability that an identical twin raised independently will be homosexual if the other one is will be 20%.
First of all, that is much higher than the “normal” probability of 2-3%.
Hence, while homosexuality is obviously inheritable, it is not hardwired.
That raises a lot of question.
Let’s back to our first question. How can there still be gay people in the world.
It turns out that being homosexual does not decrease your gene pool survival rate as seriously as people have thought. What kicks you out of the gene pool is lack of success in mating with the opposite sex, not strong desire for to mate with the same sex.
In other word, impotence will kick you out of the gene pool way faster than bisexuality.
However, for most males, homosexuality is either a yes or no. While many women are bisexual, men are either homosexual or heterosexual with few between. At least according to Kinsey’s in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_Reports.
Still according to Francis statement, heritability of homosexuality is only 20%. So whatever genes that “cause” homosexuality will only kick you out of the gene pool 20% of the time, at most. That gene may come in package with other edge, like better male bonding skills, or better artistic skills, etc.
All in all, we have impotence, suicidal, and poor males. It’s not strange to see gay people as a normal variation. In fact, homosexuality won’t hurt your gene pool survival much more than say, monogamy. The former will simply reduce the number of your potential mate from 1 to 0, rather than the normal number of 1000.
What truly surprises me is why so many religious bigots oppose homosexuality so much?
I’ve never heard religions condemn impotence, or lack of money making skills, or lack of promiscuity.

Said this at 7:21pm:Homosexuals themselves claim that their ‘condition’ is genetic. You claim otherwise. Are you bucking the homosexual lobby here?
If you state that it is not genetic, then by implication, it is possible for homosexuals to choose to exit homosexuality and live another lifestyle. Why is it that the homosexual lobby persecutes ex-homosexuals who make those choices?
You claim that people who follow religion are bigots. This comment seems oddly disconnected with your scientific assertion here. Shouldn’t you rather be concluding that homosexuals who persecute ex-homosexuals are bigots?

It’s happening right now in Europe, where the native European population has lots of sex with either gender but raises no kids, and is experiencing less than 0% population growth. The fastest-growing segment of their population is Muslim immigrants! Russia has it especially bad, and is giving out money and holding government-sponsored sweepstakes to try to increase the birth rate. Take a look for yourself!
On the face of it, it does seem weird that promiscuity would lead to a declining population. But then, raising a human child is an extremely taxing endeavor, one which a family including both a mother and a fatherf is best able to carry out. The promiscuous are promiscuous because they want to avoid responsibility, not because they want to assume more of it than a monogamous couple! And while some homosexuals may want to raise kids, they certainly aren’t making any themselves!
Mark Steyn reports in America Alone that when an audience of Russian women saw Silent Scream, a film which shows an abortion in graphic detail, they were impressed with the modern facilities and asked how they could get an American-style abortion. I highly recommend this book, as it describes the European crisis in detail, with plenty of citations and external references.
About religious condemnation — most religions aren’t concerned with your genes or your aptitude so much as your standing before God. And while genes may contribute to homosexual behavior, much like they do with alcoholism, they don’t deprive you of the choice to choose whether or not to obey God’s commandments.
If you’re most concerned with how religion impacts the gene pool, perhaps you should take a look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They’re very strongly against promiscuity and homosexuality, and very much in favor of traditional families. They’re the complete opposite of contemporary European secularism — and they’re having a ton of kids. ^.^

Said this at 6:04am:All well thought of comments are very welcomed and thanks. Anyway, homosexuality is a victimless act. They did it to themselves. I am not gay, though I like lesbians. People that promote prosecution of victimless acts are bigots.
However, I don’t see problem with Christians that only tell that homosexuality is sin without promoting jail sentence for them.

Furthermore, its spread weakens the traditional family, and therefore the survival of the species as a whole.
While I’m not aware of anyone actually being arrested in violation of anti-sodomy laws, I do think that they serve a useful instructive purpose, in terms of helping to dictate public standards. And I’m dismayed that the public airwaves are used so often to promote the homosexual agenda, which I believe is contrary to any nation’s best interests — as the European nations, it seems, are discovering.

If your chosen imaginary friend is so victimised by some people choosing to have sex with people of the same gender as themselves, well he (or she) should do something about removing the urge…
Are you saying that some diseases target homosexuals? Do straight people get STIs? Interestingly lesbians have the lowest incidence of any form of STI in the population - much lower than heterosexual men and women…
You’ve assumed the “traditional” family is intrinsic to the survival of the species. Over the 20 or so thousand years of human history, what are you calling the traditional family? I suspect it is something far from “traditional” in any real sense of the word…
As an aside, homosexuality can be inheritable without causing extinction.

The most likely fact is that there is a combination of factors, but there remains a big “so what?”

However, if I do that, many males, many non alpha males, won’t get laid. So, they make prostitution illegal. Then they make various kind of obviously consensual sex illegal too.
I got a female friend that cannot divorce her husband here in Indonesia. If the women no longer want to engage sex and people force her to stay, that’s rape. Some protection for female.
