Religions Teach Very Smart Form of Selfishness
It’s quite obvious that in countries filled with war and celibacy, many young males die; Sultans will have easier time filling up his harem with less protest and opposition. Hence, advocating celibacy, for a sultan, can be a very smart and selfish strategy. It’s not a necessarily rational strategy, but smart and profitable indeed.
Now, the fruit of knowledge and the kingdom of science have shone upon the people. The people’s eyes are opening and now they know what’s really going on. With knowledge comes power. So, the people then become just like the creator of their fairy tales, powerful rulers.
This is, of course, to the dismay of the original rulers that will also embrace some fairy tales condemning similar actions on similar circumstances.
With science and rationality, the people have more knowledge and with it power. Hence, the majority of political powers in the world shift to the large number of population. That majority become the new Sultan or King, such as in democracy that is mushrooming all over the world.
Again, embracing religions can be a very smart and selfish thing.
