Religions Teach Very Smart Form of Selfishness
Yes, Catholic Church also advocates ascetic life and celibacy for monks and religious scholars. However, that’s relatively insignificant compared to the life it promotes through prohibition of condom and abortion.
Not only that, by effectively committing genocide for those who question, like monks, and encouraging the proliferation of unquestioning faithful mean people, religions promote gene pool survival of those who are likely to embrace religions. Smart move Pope! Could have fooled me.
And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
You see, stupidity can be a very smart thing to embrace, if you can get others to embrace it.
Dawkins, of all the people should have known that life is filled with competition. Imposing stupid things on others will hurt competitors. A person that can hurt competitors more than hurting him self will then get an overall edge. Gene pool survival is almost a zero sum game.
