Religious Doctrines and Hemophilia
Thousands of people are marching in outrage over a few caricatures in Denmark.
When I heard that, I was very confused. There so many other beliefs and opinions that humans have. We, for example, believe that protons attract electrons with force inversely proportional with the square of the distance.
Such beliefs have tremendously changed our life for the better.
Yet electromagnetic theory is never granted sacred status no matter how many scientific evidences and benefits it has conveyed. I’ve never heard thousands of people violently defend any scientific evidences with the same fervor they defend religious beliefs.
Why?
Perhaps evolution theory can show us some light into the matter.
You see, a living organism are stuffs that satisfy 3 criteria.
1. Reproduce.
2. Inherit.
3. Mutate
Any things that satisfy all 3 criteria can be considered living. Just like we consider germs, viruses, and humans as living organism, we too can consider beliefs as living organisms.
