Do People Choose Their Dictators
By failing to tolerate consensual acts, the people of Iraq and North Korea, in a sense, have chosen to be led by dictators. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing.
Envy bigots, for example, wouldn’t mind being enslaved by dictators as long as they can prevent others from being successful. However, it’s important that we know as much as possible the consequences of what we choose.
Now in Indonesia, people are considering anti pornography laws. Those who show nipples in public will get 10 years in prison. That’s a much tougher sentence than those who murders.
I am not going to argue that it’s wrong. However, I can predict that such preferences will lead to some significant consequences.
I see that violent and murder in Indonesia will go up.I’ll see that governments’ power will go up. I see governments’ officials will get more bribe.
If you’re going to get punished for every little thing you do, you might as well do something big.
