Do People Choose Their Dictators
Because in US, it is more profitable for somebody to get rich through honest productive means than in North Korea. In North Korea, you can’t make a good business and sell your businesses to the public. In North Korea, such acts are not tolerated.
When a society embraces a system that’s intolerance toward various productive means, in the process of what maximizes one profit, people will choose to act outside the system. When people maximizes their profit outside the system, they have little intensive to be nice to other people.
When you work within the system, you tend to follow the rule and be nice so that you don’t get punished. However, when being successful is illegal, the best and brightest realized that the system will punish them anyway.
So they know that they’ll survive based on their capability to fight the system, or their capability to hide. That’s then not a good intensive to comply with the system.
When consumers choose their best product, businesses will try to please consumers. When governments’ officials choose what’s best for you, people will bribe governments’ official.
Now, back to Iraq. Saddam and his sons like to have sex with many women. Why can’t they just attract women consensually? Well, can you build a porn stand in Iraq? You can’t. Can you make a giant software empire in Iraq? You can’t. So what can you do? Be dictators and kill many people.
